Hi! My name is Tobi Cameron! My passion for travel and tracing family roots inspired me to create Rooted In Travel. The photo above shows my husband and me on Clan Cameron lands in Fort William, Scotland, a place that deeply connects to our heritage. Our first visit in 2022 was so meaningful that we returned in 2024 with our grown daughters to explore more of the Highlands. I specialize in crafting personalized travel plans that take you directly to the places your ancestors called home.

The "Birth" of Rooted In Travel

What inspired the name Rooted In Travel? Well, my maiden name is "Root," and interestingly, one of my all-time favorite television shows is "Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr." Another beloved series of mine was "Who Do You Think You Are?" I've been captivated by these programs and have spent nearly two decades tracing my family's lineage alongside my husband's on Ancestry.com. Pivotal moments for me were my two trips to Scotland, which prompted me to venture into the travel industry!


I have two daughters, ages 22 and 25. My husband and I hail from Massachusetts, and although we've lived in Indiana, Michigan, and upstate New York, we've called South Carolina home for the past 14 years.
